500 Uzbekistani som Coin Design
The 500 Uzbekistani commemorative coin front design features the National Coat of Arms. The reverse of the coin design presents The Palace of International Forums in Tashkent (Capital city) and the denomination. This coin is part of the 2011 commemorative series “20th Anniversary of Uzbekistan’s Independence” its rim is plain, and its color is silver.

The Som has been the official currency of Uzbekistan since 1993, when it replaced the ruble at par. The word Som means “pure” in Kyrgyz, Uyghur, and Uzbek.
It introduced a coin series in denominations of 1 to 50 tiyin and 1, 5, and 10 som. Then, in 2000 and 2004, the bank introduced the second series in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 50, and 100 som.
In 2018, the bank introduced the third coin series in denominations of 50, 100, 200, and 500 soʻm.
The previous series of coins in those coin denominations will be withdrawn by the middle of 2020.

The currency code for the Uzbekistani Som is “UZS.” The ISO 4217 number for this currency is 860. The currency symbol for the Som is “лв.”
