Do you have an Uruguayan 50 Pesos Banknote? Here’s how to exchange it with us.
The peso is the official currency in Uruguay since 1993. Because of World War II’s economic difficulties, the peso was replaced by the “new peso” in 1975, but in 1993 the peso returned as official currency in the country. The first banknotes were issued between 1995 and 1995 in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, and 500 pesos, followed by 1000 and 2000 pesos note between 2000 and 2003. Coins in the same years replaced the 5 and 10 notes. In 2014, the government introduced a new banknote series with the vertical word “URUGUAY”.
The 50 Pesos commemorative note front features Arms, a large numeral “50”, rays. The reverse note side has the Port Construction; mural by Walter Deliotti. This note is part of the 2017 Commemorative series 50th Anniversary of Banco Central del Uruguay and, its color is blue.
