Description

The Tunisian dinar is the official currency of Tunisia since 1960, after being established as an accounting unit in 1958 and replaced the franc. The same year, the Central Bank of Tunisia issued coin in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100. A 1/2 dinar coin was introduced in 1968 to replace the banknote.

The 1 Algerian dinar commemorative coin front design feature The National Coat of Arms (consist of a Punic Galley, a lion holding a sword, a weighing scale and the motto written in Arabic: “Freedom, Order, Justice”), two olive branches and issue date in the Islamic and Gregorian calendar. The reverse coin design illustrates an agricultural scene with a woman picking fruit from a tree and crops around her and the denomination. This coin is part of the 1996 – 2013 (1416 – 1434) commemorative series: “FAO”. Its rim is plain, and its color is silver.
