The Trinidad and Tobago dollar is the official currency in Trinidad and Tobago since 1964, when the union’s currency was replaced after the nation’s independence two years before. The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago issued coins with denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents, followed by a 1 dollar coin in 1969. There are coins of 5, 10, 100 and 200 dollars but can only be obtained from the Central Bank.
The 10 Trinidad and Tobago Dollars coin front design feature the National Coat of Arms (consist of a palm tree, tree gold ships, a Scarlet ibis and a Cocrico, the Trinity Hills a rising island and the nation’s motto, “Together We Aspire, Together We Achieve”). The reverse coin design illustrated a thematic map of Trinidad and Tobago with a deity blowing and creating waves in the sea, a dolphin, a marlin, a ship of conquest and the denomination. This coin is part of the 1974 – 1975 series, its rim is fluted, and its color is silver.
