Description
The somoni is the official currency of Tajikistani since 2000 when it replaced the Tajikistani ruble. In 1999, the National Bank of Tajikistan printed banknotes which were introduced the following year; denominations of 1, 5, 20, 50 dirams, and 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100, followed by a 3, 200, and 500 somoni note in 2010.
The 50 Tajikistan somoni note front design features the portrait of Bobojon Ghafurov (1908 – 1977), was a Tajik historian and scholar, who is author of the books History of Tajikistan and The Tajik, among others, a sketch of a book with some flowers, the National Emblem, and the denomination; the lettering is presented in the Tajik language. The reverse of the note illustrates the Teahouse” Sino” located in the Isfara district, on a background with two teapots; the National flag and the denomination. The lettering is presented in the English language. This note is part of the 2017 – 2018 series, and its color is dark blue and black on a multicolor underprint.
