The Solomon Island dollar is the official currency of the Solomon Islands. The official currency symbol: SI$.
The Solomon Islands dollar was introduced after the country achieved its independence in 1977. The first coins were introduced in denominations 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 cents and 1 dollar. In 2012, a new redesigned coins series was introduced in denominations of 10, 20, and 50 and 1, and 2 dollar coins.
The 50 Solomon Islands cents coin front design features the portrait of Elizabeth II (Queen of the United Kingdom and 15 other Commonwealth realms), the name of the country and the issue date. The reverse of the coin presents the denomination and the Solomon Islands Eagle spirit of Malaita. This coin is part of the 2012 series, its rim is fluted, and its color is silver.
