Description
The Russian ruble is the official currency of the Russian Federation. The official currency symbol; ₽ – р / коп – к. The ruble has been used in the Russian territories since the 14th century. The current Russian ruble was introduced in December 1991 and used at par with the Soviet ruble, which was replaced entirely in September 1993. In 1991, the State Bank introduced notes in denominations of 200, 500, and 1000 rubles, followed by a Russian Federation named notes of 5000 and 1000 rubles in 1992, 50,000 rubles in 1993, 10,000 and 500,000 rubles in 1995. In 1998, the Government redenominated the Russian and introduced new banknotes of 5 ₽, 10 ₽, 50 ₽, 100 ₽, and 500 ₽, followed by the 1,000 ₽ in 2001, 5,000 ₽ in 2006, 200 ₽ and 2,000 ₽ in 2017.
The 100 Russian rubles commemorative note front design illustrates a snowboarder jumping over the Sochi Olympic stadium and snowy mountains. The Bank of Russia logo is in the upper-right corner. The reverse of the note illustrates the Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi and a holographic Fenix sketch on a background with a motif of the different winter sports. The lettering of the note is presented in the Russian language. This note is part of the 2014 commemorative series ‘’2014 Sochi Olympics’’. Its color is blue, purple, green, and orange on a multicolor underprint.
