Description
The Russian ruble is the official currency of the Russian Federation. The official currency symbol; ₽ – р / коп – к. The ruble has been used in the Russian territories since the 14th century. The current Russian ruble was introduced in December 1991 and used at par with the Soviet ruble, which was replaced entirely in September 1993. In 1992, the Russian Federation introduced coins in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, and 100 rubles. In 1998, the Government redenominated the Russian and introduced new coins of 1 коп, 5 коп, 10 коп, 50 коп, 1₽, 2₽ 5₽ and 10₽.
The 10 kopecks coin front design features the figure of Saint George (venerated as a saint in Christianity) on horseback, killing a serpent with a spear, the Bank of Russia inscription, and the issue date. The reverse of the coin illustrates the denomination followed by a stylized vegetative ornamental design. This coin is part of the 2006 – 2015 series, its rim is plain, and its color is gold.
