1 Nigerian naira Coin Design
The 2 Nigerian naira coin front design features the National Coat of Arms (consists of a black shield with a wavy white mantle, which two horses support. On top, there is an eagle on a white and green band. Below, at the base, are yellow trumpet flowers, the National Flower of Nigeria and Nigeria’s national motto: “Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress”), and the issue date. The reverse coin design illustrates the National Assembly building in Abuja, two stars, and the denomination. This coin is part of the 2006 series, its rim is milled, and its color is silver and bronze.

The Naira has been the official currency in Nigeria since 1973, when it replaced the Nigerian pound after the national independence in 1960. The official currency symbol is ₦.
After establishing the Naira as the legal currency of exchange, the Central Bank of Nigeria issued coins of 1⁄2, 1, 5, 10, and 25 kobo, followed by ₦1 in 1991.
In 2007, Nigeria changed the 50 kobo and ₦1 notes to coins, introducing the ₦2 coin.
