The Netherlands Antillean gulden is the official currency in Curaçao and Sint Maarten. The Dutch gulden circulated the Netherland Antilles since the 18th century. After the Netherlands Antilles’ dissolution, Curaçao and Sint Maarten are planning to replace the gulden with a Caribbean gulden, but the project is still running. In 1892 notes were introduced in denominations of 25 and 50 cents, 1 and 2 ½ gulden. In 1900, notes for 5, 10, 25, 50, 100, 250 and 500 gulden were issued. The 5 gulden notes were substituted by coin, and the 250 and 500 gulden notes were discontinued.
Currently are circulating banknotes with denominations 10, 25, 50 and 100 gulden.
The 50 Gulden note front features a Rufous-collared sparrow (passeridae) at the left-center with gold foil at the lower right. The reverse note side has a Shield-like bank logo. This note is part of the 1998 – 2016 series and, its color is Brown-orange on multicolor underprint. (147 x 66 mm)
