Description

The Namibian dollar is the official currency in Namibia since 1993 when it replaced the South African rand, which had been the currency when the country was under South African rule between 1920 and 1990. The official currency symbol is N$. The first banknotes series were introduced in denominations of N$10, N$20, N$30, N$50, N$100 and N$200. In 2012, the Bank of Namibia a new banknote series with the same denominations, followed by a N$30 commemorative note in 2020.

The 20 Namibian dollars note front design features Samuel Shafiishuna Daniel Nujoma, a Namibian revolutionary, anti-apartheid activist, politician and President of Namibia in three terms 1990 and 2005, on a background that illustrates the Parliament building in Windhoek (capital city of Namibia) and the denomination. The reverse note side displays three red hartebeests in the middle and, on the left, an enlarged view of the animal’s head. The design is completed with the National Coat of Arms and the denomination. This note is part of the 2015 series, and its color is brown and orange on a multicolor underprint.
