Do you have a Mexico 5 Pesos Coin? Here’s how to exchange it with us.
The Mexican Peso is the official currency in Mexico. The first coin was issued in 1863 in centavos and peso denominations. In 1992, the United Mexican States’ Monetary System introduced a new monetary system called “Nuevo peso”. The Bank of Mexico issued a series of coins in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50 cents and 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 pesos.
The 5 Pesos coin front design features the National Coat of Arms of Mexico (made up of a Mexican eagle perched on a flowered nopal, ready to devour a snake. Two branches, one oak in front of the eagle and another of laurel on the opposite side). The reverse coin design has the denomination, the symbol of the Mint “M°”, and below, a stylization from the Ring of Serpents on the Aztec calendar stone. This coin is part of the C-1996 series, its rim is plain, and its color is silver and gold.
