Description
The Dollar is the official currency in Jamaican since 1969 after the Jamaican House of Representative voted to introduce the dollar. Coins of 1, 5, 10, 20, and 25 cents were introduced, followed by the 50 cents replaced the note in 1976. The 1 dollar coin was issued in 1990, followed by 5 dollars coin in 1994. then, the 10 and 20 dollars note were replaced by coins between 1999 and 2000.
The Jamaican 25 Cents coin front design features the National Coat of Arms (consists of a crocodile, a blazon, a native woman holding a basket of fruit, a native man with a bow, the motto “Out of Many, One People” and the denomination. The reverse coin design features Marcus Garvey (1887 – 1940), who was a Jamaican national hero and the founder and first President-General of the Universal Negro Improvement Association and African Communities League (UNIA-ACL). This coin is part of the 1995 – 2012 series, its rim is plain, and its color is bronze.
