1000 Indonesian Rupiah Banknote Design

The 1000 Rupiah note front design features Tjut Meutia, who was an Indonesian national heroine (1870 – 1910). The reverse note side has Fort Belgica’s image in Banda Neira, the Tifa dance from Papua, and also Cooktown Orchid. This note is part of the 2016 – 2018 series and, its color is green, orange violet.

This time  from October 1946 to March 1950, Indonesian currency had no international recognition. Its value was determined on the black market.

Since 1946  introduced the Rupiah like the official currency of Indonesia to the country  to operate in conjunction with a Gulden version of the Netherlands Indie Gulden introduced during the Japanese occupation in World War II.

Later in 1950, after the nationalist struggle and independence recognized by the Dutch government, consequently Indonesia carried out a currency reform in which it declared the Rupiah as a legal currency.

Following the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 31 of 5 September 2016, BI introduced seven new banknote designs featuring national heroes

The rupiah has been subject to high inflation for most of its existence . For that reason various attempts have been made to maintain the value of the currency, but also all were abandoned.
