The Hong Kong dollar is the official currency of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. The official currency symbol: “$”, “HK$” or “元”.

The 5 Hong Kong dollar coin front design features a stylized design of a Bauhinia flower and the inscription: Hong Kong. The reverse of the coin presents the denomination and the issue date. This coin is part of the 1993 – 2017 series; its rim has a security edge with lettering; HONG KONG FIVE DOLLARS. Its color is silver.
