The Guyana dollar is the official currency in Guyana since 1839, when started a transitional changeover of the Dutch guilder to the British pound sterling system. In the 1970s, an anti-inflationary measure was come with the US dollar and the Eastern Caribbean Currency Authority, whose Guyana was a member, arranged the switch in 1975. Banknotes were issued in 1965 in denominations of 1, 5, 10, and 20 dollars, then between 1988 and 1992, a second series with 20, 100 and 500 dollars were introduced. The 1000 dollars note were emitted between 1996 and 1999 and the 5000 dollars note in 2013.
The 100 Dollars note front design features the map of Guyana and the Coat of Arms. The reverse note side has the image of the St. George’s Cathedral, Georgetown. This note is part of the 2005 – 2016 series and, its color is blue on a multicolor underprint.
