Description

The lari is the official currency of Georgia. The name lari is derived from an old Georgian word referring to hoard or property, while tetri means “white”. The official currency symbol: . Initially, Georgia used a currency known as kuponi, which replaced the Russian ruble and consisted only of banknotes. Then in 1995, the government replaced the kuponi with the lira and introduced notes in denomination of 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 lari.

The 200 Georgian lari note front design features the portrait of Kaikhosro “Kakutsa” Cholokashvili (1888 –1930), was a national here who served as Georgian military officer and a commander of an anti-Soviet guerrilla movement in Georgia, on a background with fragments of relief images of Georgian cultural artifacts. The design is completed by a circular seal containing the silver soldier on the silver horse (elements of the National Coat of Arms).

The reverse of the note presents a view city of Sokhumi and relief fragments of the iconostasis found in the village of Tsebelda in the Gulribshi region. The lettering is presented in the Georgian and English language. This note is part of the 2006 series, and its color is brown and yellow.
