Description
The Fijian dollar is the official currency of Fiji. The official currency symbol: FJ$ or FJD.
After the second Fiji dollar was introduced in 1969, replacing the Fiji pound, the government introduced coins in denominations of 1c, 2c, 5c, 10c, 20c, and 50c issued in 1975. In 1990, a new one was introduced series of coins whose denominations were the same except for a new composition material. In the following years, the $ 1 bill was replaced by coins in 1995. then in 2013, the government minted a new series of coins that replaced the portrait of Queen Elizabeth with wildlife themes and introduced the $ 2 coin as well.
The 50 Fijian cents coin front design features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (Queen of the United Kingdom and 15 other commonwealth realms), the name of the country, and the issue date. The reverse of the coin presents a Camakau (traditional outrigger canoe) and the denomination. This coin is part of the 2009 – 2010 series; its rim is fluted, and its color is silver.
