Do you have a Chile 20000 Pesos Banknote? Here’s how to exchange it with us.
The Chilean peso has been the official currency of Chile since 1817 after the country’s independence, but in 1959 the peso was replaced by the “escudo”. After a series of statutory decrees, the peso was once again positioned as the country’s official currency in 1975. One year later, notes started to being introduced in denominations of 5, 10, 50 and 100 pesos, and with the inflation effects, the highest denominations were issued too; 1000, 2000, 5000, 10000 and 200000. Coins replaced the 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500 banknotes.
The 20,000 Pesos note front design features Andrés Bello (1781 – 1865), who was political, and his literary works constitute an essential part of Spanish American culture. The reverse note side of the note has the image of Salar de Surire Natural Monument. This note is part of the 2009 – 2020 polymer series and, its color is brown and orange.
Text: Veinte Mil Pesos, Andrés Bello 1781-1865, Banco Central de Chile, Monumento Natural de Surire, Presidente, Gerente General, 20000.
