Do you have a Chile 100 Pesos Coin? Here’s how to exchange it with us.
The Chilean peso has been the official currency of Chile since 1817 after the country’s independence, but in 1959 the peso was replaced by the “escudo”. After a series of statutory decrees, the peso was once again positioned as the country’s official currency in 1975. The coins were introduced in denominations of 1,2, 10 and 50 centavos and 1 peso. One year later, the 5, 10, 50, 100 and 500 banknotes were replaced by coins.
The 100 Pesos coin front design features a Mapuche woman. The reverse coin design has the Chilean Coat of Arms (It consists of three feathers with the colors of the Chilean flag, deer and condor of the Andes) and the denomination surrounded by a laurel wreath. This coin is part of the 2001 series, its rim is divided into alternate sixths in smooth and striated, and its color is silver and gold.
