Description

The Cayman Islands Dollar is the official currency in the Cayman Islands since 1972, 10 years after the separation from the Colony of Jamaica and substituting the Jamaican dollar. There were issued coins in denominations of 1, 5, 10 and 25 cents, and these denominations are circulating nowadays.

The 50 Cayman Islands Dollars coin front design features an Elizabeth II (Queen of the United Kingdom and 15 other Commonwealth realms) bust. The reverse coin design has Portraits of sovereign queens surrounding the denomination. This coin is part of the 1975 – 1977 commemorative issue: “Sovereign Queens of England”. Its rim is fluted, and its color is silver.
