The Cayman Islands Dollar is the official currency in the Cayman Islands since 1972, 10 years after the separation from the Colony of Jamaica and substituting the Jamaican dollar. There were issued coins in denominations of 1, 5, 10 and 25 cents, and these denominations are circulating nowadays.
The 25 Cayman Islands Dollars coin front design features an Elizabeth II (Queen of the United Kingdom and 15 other Commonwealth realms) bust. The reverse coin design has the busts of Elizabeth II and Prince Philip (Duke of Edinburgh 1952 – 2021) and the denomination. This coin is part of the 1972 commemorative issue: “25th Anniversary of the Marriage of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip”. Its rim is fluted, and its color is silver.
