20 British Pounds Banknote Design
The 20 British pound note front design features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (Queen of the United Kingdom and 15 other commonwealth realms), on a background with line pattern and replications number twenty in the lower right; at the center is an illustration of the Bank of England with Coat of Arms of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. Also completed with a window seal of the Queen’s portrait, a holographic seal of the Royal Crown, a stylized image of a lighthouse, and the Bank of England seal.
The reverse of the note shows the portrait of Joseph Mallord William Turner (1775 – 1851), who was an English Romantic painter, printmaker, and watercolorist, and whose self-portrait was painted around 1799 (display at Tate Britain), on a background that features The Fighting Temeraire, which is one of Turner’s most famous paintings. The design is completed with a window seal of the Queen’s portrait, a stylized image of a lighthouse, a holographic seal of a ship’s rudder, and the Bank of England seal. This note is part of the 2020 series, and also its color is purple and multicolor.
