Description

The Belize dollar is the official currency in Belize since 1978. Belize was a part of British Honduras where the Spanish Dollars circulated between 1765 and 1825. In 1885, a bronze coin 1 cent was introduced, followed by silver 5, 10, 25, and cents in 1894. Then, in 1973, British Honduras has renamed Belize. The government established the Monetary Authority of Belize as an official entity until 1982 when The Central Bank of Belize was created, and the first 1 dollar coin was introduced in 1990.

The 25 Cents coin front design features Elizabeth II (Queen of the United Kingdom and 15 other Commonwealth realms) portrait. The reverse coin design has the denomination surrounded by a beaded circle and a geometric design. This coin is part of the 1974 – 2017 series, its rim is milled, and its color is silver.
