Belarus 1 Ruble

Description

The Belarusian ruble is the official currency of Belarus. The introduction started during the Soviet Union dissolution and the Republic of Belarus independence in 1991. However, only until the royal union of the monetary systems of the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation, the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus established the Belarusian ruble as the Republic of Belarus’ only legal tender in 1994. In 2000, the Belarusian government redenominated the currency and removed three zeros. Consequently, a new ruble was introduced to circulate at par with the old one in 2016; thus, the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus introduced coins for the first time in the history of the Belarusian ruble. Nowadays, are circulating coins in denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 copecks, and 1 and 2 rubles.

The 1 ruble coin front design features the National Emblem (consists of an outline of the map of Belarus, superimposed on the rays of a sun, which is partially covered by a globe; on each side of the emblem are stalks of wheat superimposed with flowers; clovers adorn the left wheat stalks, and flax flowers adorn the right; wrapped around the stalks of wheat is a red and green ribbon in the colors of the Belarusian flag; At the base of the emblem, there is a ribbon named Republic of Belarus (Рэспубліка Беларусь). At the top of the emblem is a red five-pointed star), followed by the name of the country and the issue date. The reverse of the coin illustrates the denomination and a stylized depiction of the national ornament that symbolizes happiness and freedom. This coin is part of the 2009 series, its rim is fluted, and its color is silver.
