Description

The dollar is the official currency in Barbados since 1935, when the Barbadian government issued paper money denominated in dollars. This currency replaced the East Caribbean Dollar, and coins were introduced in denominations of 1¢, 5¢, 10¢, 25¢ and 1 dollar in 1973.

The Barbadian 50 Dollars commemorative coin front design features the official symbol of the Food and Agriculture Organization (F.A.O., also means “For the Attention Of”). The reverse coin design has Flying fish, the motto “Fourwind Flyingfish”, and the denomination below. This coin is part of the 1984 commemorative series: “F.A.O”. Its rim is milled, and its color is silver.
