Coins with denominations of 1, 5, 10, 15, 25 and 50 cents and 1 and 2 dollars were introduced during the first transition. The 50 cents and 1 dollar coins do not replace the corresponding banknotes.

Motto: “Forward, Upward, Onward Together”), and the phrase: “Commonwealth of the Bahamas”. The reverse coin design has the Yellow Elder (National Flower) and the denomination on top. This coin is part of the 1975 – 1977 commemorative series: “Independence of the Bahamas”. Its rim is fluted, and its color is silver.
