Description
The dollar is the official currency in the Bahamas since 1966, when it replaced the pound 7 years before the nation’s independence. Notes with denominations of ½ 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollars were introduced during the first transition. Since 2016 a new banknote series has been submitted, updating security features and colors.
Currently are circulating banknotes with denominations ½ 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollars.
The 10 Dollars note front features Sir Stafford Lofthouse Sands (1913 – 1972), who was a former Minister of Finance of the Bahamas,Yellow Elder flower (Tecoma stans), map of The Bahamas. The reverse note side has Hope Town, Abaco Island. This note is part of the 2016 – 2020 series vertical format and, its color is Blue, green and pink. (156 x 67 mm)
