Description

The manat is the official currency of Azerbaijan. The word manat derived from the Latin word “Moneta” and the official currency symbol: . The first appearance of the currency dates between 1919 and 1923, when the manat replaced the first Transcaucasian ruble at par; then, the manat was replaced by the second Transcaucasian ruble after Azerbaijan became part of the Transcaucasian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic. The second manat was introduced in 1992, replacing the Soviet ruble, and a third series was announced in 2006 and coins in denominations of 1, 3, 5, 10, 20 and 50 qəpik were introduced.

The 3 Azerbaijani qəpik coin front design features a pile of old books and a writing pen. The reverse of the coin design presents a stylized map of Azerbaijan. This coin is part of the 2006 – 2011 series, its rim is plain with a groove, and its color is bronze.
