Description

The florin is the official currency in Aruba since 1986, replacing the Netherland Antillean guilder. The Central Bank of Aruba issued coins in denominations of 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents and 1 and 2 ½ florin but later, the last one was discontinued. In 2005, the 5 florin square coin was substituted by a gold-round coin.

The 1 Aruban Florin coin front design features the National Coat of Arms (consists of an aloe plant, the Hooiberg Hill, two dexter hands shaking each other fesswise, a cogwheel, a lion and a pair of laurel branches) with Aruba on top and the denomination. The reverse coin design has the Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands side bust. This coin is part of the 2014 – 2018 series. Its rim is plain with the inscription “GOD * ZIJ * MET * ONS *” and its color is silver.
